The Inspiration of Tokyo

On 23, Feb 2012 | 4 Comments | In Thoughts | By Mika

So folks, I’m on vacation in Tokyo. You’ve read my Tokyo Shorts series, right? Those only get written while I am physically here in the country so well and true, this place really helps me pump out some shorts. I love and miss this feeling, the intensity of the story beating at my brain and demanding to be written, the mundane daily encounters becoming the source of a new tale.

It’s friggin awesome.

That said, I was in the house all day sick, the weather outside not exactly conducive to any real roaming of the city anyhow. Of course, that time was spent writing, considering a new story that sort of developed on its own. I’m still writing it mind you, but I think it will be rather interesting to deviate from the insane happenings from my prior stories and delve into something a little deeper, a little darker. It’s taking me to a place I’ve never been before and that makes me excited and scared at the same time. It’s not my normal type of story, I have to say. Let’s see what the next day or so brings with this tale and I’ll let you be the judge. It might be a little longer than my normal stories — let’s say, the length of “Olivia’s Story“– but I think it will be worth it.

I look forward to what you have to say!

  1. I was just thinking about you today. Just wondering how its going. Cant wait to hear more! Enjoy!

  2. lol, this’ll be my last comment of the day (pinkie-promise!)… but I wanted to say I’m so excited for a new Tokyo Short! I’ve read them all, over & over again :D

and… if it counts for anything, I’d love to read more installments of Maya’s story… it ties w/ Yuka’s as my favourite!

  3. Did you catch “Ofuro” yet? I posted it a few days ago: http://www.mikamatsumoto.com/portfolio/ofuro/

Thank you for the love on the stories! And indeed, your comments count: I’d like to make more installments of Maya’s story too. I started it already, but I’m a little torn about how it should turn out. Do I want a somewhat happy ending or should it just be more debauchery and torment? Hmm… maybe I should do it as a “Choose Your Own Story” sort of thing and do two outcomes…

Yuka’s story is one of my favorites too. :)

  4. hi, mika :)
yes! I actually read ofuro just after I finished commenting… so good! I swear, I’m like a kid in a candy store when it comes to your stories… giddy, salivating & always wanting more (wow. that sounder a lot better in my head. lol)

as to Maya… well, I know what I’d do… but, she’s your girl ;) maybe she needs more debauchery & torment (hell, maybe a lot more of it), before some unforeseen event brings about a happy ending? your Muse will guide you, I’m sure :)
